Need a Godparent/Sponsor Certificate?
Congratulations on being asked to be a Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor. This is a very important role. Please take a moment to review the guidelines provided. If you are a registered member of St. Joseph and you meet the criteria, fill out the form below and we will prepare your certificate. The qualifications for serving as a godparent/sponsor are that one should be:
- Designated for this role by the one to be baptized/confirmed (or by the parents in the case of an infant.)
- 16 years of age or older.
- A Catholic, who has received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation, living a life in conformity with the faith and the role assumed as a sponsor.
- If married, the marriage was by a Catholic Priest/Deacon in a Church.
- Not be the parent of the person receiving the sacrament.
