According to the 1983 Code of Canon Law (Canon 1176), it states, “the Church earnestly recommends that the pious custom of burying the bodies of the dead be observed; it does not, however, forbid cremation unless it has been chosen for reasons which are contrary to Christian teaching.”
Cremation is the preparation of the body for memorialization just as traditional in-ground or full-body crypt burials. Options for the final disposition of cremated remains and the subsequent memorial used to honor your loved ones are many and varied.
St. Joseph's Cemetery offers in-ground cremation burials and shrine columbarium burials. St. Joseph’s Risen Christ Mausoleum offers niches inside and outside as well as mosaic tile and glass front niches for the placement of cremated remains.

Pricing for Niches – Indoors & Outdoors
As there are many and varied niches, the price also differs according to location. Niches, purchased in single units, range in price from $700 to $4,800 for a single niche. St. Joseph’s Glass Front Niches (shown immediately above) located in the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph’s prayer room in the Upper Level Chapel are the only exception to niches sold in single units. Double niche units in these prayers rooms are $3,800 for a double niche -- only a limited number are available. Fees for “openings” and “lettering” are additional and are not in the price of a niche.
